MGHM Healing Brief, 1/11

"I Will Be There"

John Ylvisaker’s beloved "I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry" calls to mind Exodus 3:14. When the Lord commissions Moses to lead the suffering Israelites out of Egypt, Moses wonders how he, a mere herdsman, can speak for God. In Everett Fox’s recent literal translation of the Torah, God replies, "Tell them, ‘I-Will-Be-There sends me to you.’"

Again and again throughout Scripture we’re assured that God is always there for His children, in the best and worst of situations and everything in between. In Hebrews 13:5 (Amplified) the assurance is repeated three times: "I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down!"

He's right there with us

Plainly, His being "there" means a lot more than cold Omnipresence. Most of us have grown up knowing that God is everywhere--but too few of us know in our hearts that He’s right there with us, working day and night to bring us healing, deliverance, and protection.

God doesn’t wander away from us and never will. Of course all too often we wander away from God, whether by way of laziness, corrupt appetites, bad theology, or you-name-it. But once we’re clear in our heads and hearts that God is present with power in any circumstance we face, we can go into action in the strength that He supplies.

"I make all things new"

Are you struggling with a "mountain"--of sadness, despair, unbelief, strife, mental disease, physical pain, or any other torment? Take your place in Christ, speak the Word, and God will move the mountain for you (Mark 11:23).

Does it seem that you’re just wearing out? God has said "Behold, I make all things new" (Revelation 21:5). Ask Him for a new blood stream, a new pancreas, a new heart, liver, brain, immune system. Ask for whatever you need, in faith that He’s there with it--indeed, that through Christ’s sacrifice it’s already yours.

How about the broader issues? Are you dissatisfied with the direction your career has taken? Are you troubled by your family life and other relationships? Are your children disobedient? Is your spouse remote and unhappy? God is there for you. Take the time to ask Him what His plan for your life is, and ask Him about the details of that plan.

Whatever your concerns

Then do what the Spirit tells you to do. You have the assurance of Jeremiah 29:11 (Amplified): "For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome."

Whatever your concerns may be, turn to the Divine Presence, find out His plan, and then line up with that plan. You’ll be taken by the hand and led gently to a place of eternal blessing.
