MGHM Healing Brief, 5/09

What We Say is What We Get

The ancient Hebrews (and ancient civilizations generally) understood that words shape the world. We've lost sight of that truth in modern times, and the effect on our lives has been disastrous.

Christians nowadays are likely to get upset if some Religious Extremist suggests that "what we say is what we get." But thatís exactly what Scripture tells us! It couldnít be plainer than in Mark 11:23 (NKJV): ". . . whoever says . . . and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says." (As with all such Scriptures, donít hesitate to read "she" for "he.")
.

Our collective failure to speak God's will

Theories explaining the current paralysis of the Church and the helplessness of its members are a dime a dozen. But has anyone considered that the problem might be our collective failure to speak Godís will into the world?

Now, I know itís much more sophisticated (and easier) to pretend that every ugly circumstance we face is God-ordained, because He's moving in mysterious ways that weíre too feeble to understand.

But on the contrary, the experience of this ministry is that God works straightforwardly, according to the spiritual laws of faith. And one of these laws is clearly articulated in Mark 11:23. If we speak healing, thatís what we get. If we speak destruction and death, thatís what we get instead.

Use daily confessions like these

How often have we heard someone say, "Well, my dad died of cancer, so I guess Iíll die from it too." Dear one, if that sort of thing is coming out of your mouth, you need to zip your lip!

Use daily confessions like these instead:

"I am the 'blessed of the Lord' according to Isaiah 61:9. I am healed by Jesusí crucifixion at Calvary. I have been delivered from all the demons in my life because of the Cross. Jesus took the shackles of my life upon Himself. With His stripes I am healed and made whole. If evil forces attack me, theyíve already lost the battle."

"All my children are taught of the Lord, and great is the peace of my children. My children are blessed because the Word says that the children of the righteous are blessed."
.

Your words are shaping your world

"Our entire household is covered by the Blood of Jesus Christ--our cars, our finances, our children, our dogs and cats, and everything else that concerns us."

"No weapon formed against us shall prosper, and any tongue that rises against us in judgment, we shall show to be in the wrong."

Add your favorite Scriptures. Say them aloud daily. And do it in the confidence that your words are shaping your world, bringing healing, protection, deliverance, and blessing into your life and the lives of those around you.
