War on the Devil
|James 4:7 urges us to
"resist the devil and he will flee from you." But
the tragic truth is that the Church has spent most of its
history fleeing from the devil! Vast numbers
of Christians in every generation have ruined their lives
with fear of the adversary and his works: fear of disease,
death, poverty, mental instability, the loss of loved ones,
the loss of precious relationships, and an endless list of
And with that fear comes the fatal passivity that hopes
for better days but never reaches out to claim them.
Is it too much to suggest that we need a different
mindset? Does Colossians 2:15 go too far when it says that
"God disarmed the principalities and powers ranged
against us by triumphing over them in Him [Jesus] and in It
are we waiting for?
If not, then what are we waiting for? Letís
start cultivating the "delivered mindset"
described in Ephesians 6:10-17 (Complete Jewish Bible):
Finally grow powerful in union with the Lord, in union
with his mighty strength! Use all the armor and weaponry
that God provides so that you will be able to stand against
the deceptive tactics of the Adversary. . . . So take up
every piece of war equipment God provides; so that when the
evil day comes, you will be able to resist and when the
battle is won, you will still be standing.
Therefore stand! Have the belt of truth buckled around
your waist, put on righteousness for a breastplate. And wear
on your feet the readiness that comes from the good news of shalom.
. . . And take the helmet of deliverance along with the
sword given by the Spirit, that is, the Word of God.
evil has been disarmed
Iíve spoken often of a recurring vision that comes to
me, of the people of God dragged down by cancer, heart
disease, besetting sins and temptations, discouragement,
despair, crippled bodies, crippled minds, crippled spirits.
But what does Godís Word say about these evils ranged
against us? That the evil has been disarmed!
My prayer is that you will share in the great revelation
coming to the Body of Christ in these Last Days, that you
have power and authority over the works of the devil
in your life. The process is blessedly simple. All thatís
required is that you feed yourself as often as necessary
with "warfare Scriptures" like Ephesians 6, until
your "delivered mindset" crowds out the devilís
doubts and fears. Then, declare Christís triumph over
whatever is troubling you.
Declare aloud exactly what Jesus has
delivered you from. Declare the Word of God
before, during, and after your battle. Declare
Christís victory over the demon(s) behind the problem
If you refuse to yield an inch, your victory will soon be
manifest. All you need is a little faith and a lot of
persistence, especially when it looks as though nothing is
