MGHM Healing Brief, 8/13

Keep It Simple

Today I want to review the "basics" of this ministry, so simple that a child can put them to work.

A vast cloud of "what ifs" and "on the other hands" and "what abouts" has gathered over the subject of healing by faith. A good share of my book Simple Healing is an attempt to answer questions that hang people up when theyíre new to the subject: If God wants us healthy, why does He permit disease? If God wants everyone healed, why doesnít He just heal them? What about Godís mysterious ways? What about His sovereignty?--and so on.

If youíre troubled by these matters, get the book and check out Chapter 3, where I offer brief responses to sixteen questions that are seldom answered clearly on Sunday morning. And once you get those answers nailed, just Keep It Simple. Thereís no need to get bogged down in deep theology.

Trusting and obeying

Dear ones, thereís really nothing mysterious about Jesusí teaching that we have to enter the kingdom of heaven as little children--trusting and obeying with utter simplicity. And it really shouldnít surprise us that dramatic healings happen on a daily basis in the "undeveloped" world. Third World people are unsophisticated by Western standards, with no what-ifs or what-abouts to mess up their childlike faith.

So letís go the way of the Third World, and avoid all the churchy sophistications that attach themselves to the plain message of Scripture. Healing by faith, first of all, rests on our friendship with a Person, not on a list of complex doctrines--and friendships of any kind need time away from the frenzy of modern living.

Any Christian can do the basics

Let the Spirit guide your devotions, your "quiet time" with the Lord. Then, when your relationship with Him is solid and fresh, getting healed will be so elementary that itís not even a process. Any Christian can do the basics:

Take your stand on the New Covenant. Jesus died and rose to restore our lost connection with the Source of abundant life. The result is salvation, our contract with God that guarantees our deliverance from every work of the devil.

Flush out any "prayer blocks" the Holy Spirit makes you aware of. Get your sins cleaned up, avoid disobedience, forgive your persecutors, bind the enemy, stay away from double-mindedness and negativity.

By speaking the Word to your condition

Feed your faith with the Word. Get the healing Scriptures built into your mind and spirit, so solidly that theyíre a part of you. Listen to them; read them aloud. Preach them to your spirit until your doubts are gone and your faith is firm.

Put this firm faith to work by speaking the Word to your condition. The Word of faith, spoken aloud, maintains an open pipeline for the flow of Godís power.

Never, never give up. Hang in there as long as it takes. Refuse to take "no" for an answer. Ignore all contrary opinions. Jesus Christ has said "yes" to your perfect health, and His opinion is the only one that matters!

Don't forget that . . .

God should be our first resort, not our last resort. Start taking time right now to build up the faith you need to receive His healing.

God is ready to heal us in every wayóspiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally.

God heals all types of disease, pain, sorrow, and infirmity. Nothing is too hard for Him.

God wants us to be healed, to be "whole" persons enjoying abundant life.

God expects us to cooperate with Him in getting healedóthrough medicine, diet, exercise, and straight thinking. Everything that promotes healing is a gift from Him.
