Sword of the Spirit
|Can the visible world be
shaped by mere words? The idea seems frankly
superstitious in our time, but it was taken for granted by
the ancient Hebrews. God Himself spoke the world into being.
Prophets not only predicted the future, they shaped
it with their words, sometimes at a distance of several
So it's not surprising that the Bible tells us to speak
healing to our sick bodies, minds, and spirits. And when
modern Christians set aside their sophistications and obey
the Bible, they soon discover that the Spirit is present and
active in every syllable of the Word they speak.
God lives in us
In fact, as Christians we have a huge advantage
over the Old Testament prophets. Because God lives in us,
each of us is a Christ-bearer, fully equipped to convey the
resources of heaven to any point of need. God’s anointed
Word and His power flow from His presence in us. That’s
why any Christian can discover the truth of
Hebrews’ assurance (4:12-14) that "the Word of God is
alive and full of power . . . penetrating even to where the
soul and spirit divide."
Hebrews goes on to say (verse 14) that "Nothing in
all creation is hidden from God's sight." If God's Word
is alive and full of power, if it can penetrate into our
deepest recesses, and if nothing is hidden from God's sight,
we have a complete recipe for deliverance from everything
that hangs us up. No tumor, no infection, no sin, corrupt
emotion, depressing memory, or any other work of the devil,
can escape the healing power of the Word.
go on the attack
Ephesians 6:16-17 (Amplified) shows us how to put
it all together. After instructing us to raise "the
shield of saving faith" and put on "the helmet of
salvation [deliverance, preservation, health,
well-being]," Paul tells us to take up "the sword
that the Spirit wields, which is the word of God."
In short, we go on the attack. The Word-sword that the
Spirit puts in your hands will cut a tumor out of your body,
destroy memories of abuse from your childhood, slice away
any demonic influence you’ve been struggling with. And
when you’ve pulverized the enemy with the Word, the same
power can restore whatever has troubled you: a broken bone,
a broken heart, a fractured marriage.
the Word has done
"Where’s the evidence," as we say in
modern times? Well, the Testimonies section of this website
offers just a small sampling of what the Word has done
through this ministry. Click on the link at the top of this
page, and have a look.
But though the testimonies of healed Christians are
inspiring to read, please remember that they’re of
secondary value. The important thing is to get to the point
where you yourself can speak the anointed Word in
faith--boldly, stubbornly, in spite of all contrary
appearances and "sophisticated" objections--until
the power of God has finished its work.
