There are two verses in Mark 11:23 and 24 that tell us how our confessions work and how our prayers work. Mark 11:23 says, “Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that whatever he says shall come to pass, he shall have whatever he says.” This verse tells us that we have the power to tell the mountains in our lives to move out and get away from us. A mountain might be cancer, fear, depression, or any other thing that the devil throws against us. This verse tells us that if we believe that what we are saying shall happen, we shall have whatever we are saying. What a marvelous promise from God’s word to us!
In Mark 11:24 we see another big promise regarding our prayers – “Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you receive [take, grab, catch] it, and you shall have it.” Here’s another fabulous prayer promise from God’s word. All we have to do is believe that we receive whatever we are asking for, and those things will be ours.
However, (and this is a big ‘however,’) there’s a condition that’s attached to our having these things from God. The condition is that we forgive. This is THE main condition to our having prayer power with God. We need to forgive everything. “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go) in order that your Father who is in heaven may also forgive you your own failings and shortcomings and let them drop.” Mark 11:25. [Amplified Bible]
Now when we drop it, leave it and let go of something, we won’t bring it up again in conversation to anyone. We have dropped it. We have left it. We won’t talk about it again with anyone. I often say to people in this ministry, “Forgive everyone, everything, every time and do it as quickly as you can.”
The reason why forgiving is so beneficial is because it helps us both spiritually and also physically. If we’re holding unforgiveness in our hearts and grudges and bitterness against someone, then we have no prayer power with God. Also, we won’t be able to get free from anything demonic. God doesn’t even hear our prayers when we’re in unforgiveness and strife with someone. Isaiah 59:2 says, “But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that he will not hear.” Bottom line here – let’s confess our sins, get rid of them and then God will hear our prayers.
In my opinion, this is the number one thing that we all must take care of in our lives if we want prayer power in dealing with our God. If you and I confess our sins and turn from them, we will have a clean slate in our hearts. Then, we can ask God for something and we will receive from Him whatever it is that we are asking.
So many Christians don’t understand this relationship between our sins and God hearing our prayers and granting what we are asking for.
If you and I become diligent about confessing our sins, then we will have an open pipeline to heaven and to God Almighty.
Be blessed!
